What jobs are available to accounting majors?

accounting
Jeffery W asked:

I am currently a college student and i am a few hours away from having an associates degree in accounting. I plan on staying another two years in order to obtain my bachelors degree. So my question is, directly out of college with a bachelors degree in accounting, what type of jobs would i qualify for, outside of just being an accountant.

You can be a public accountant, IRS auditor, financial analyst, FBI agent, CIA agent, just about anything you want really….it is a major that does not limit your possibilities.

Small to mid-sized companies often use accountants as business or office managers.

Larger companies often use accounting majors for planning and forecasting, and a variety of business practice audits..

You might want to get a few years of “just accounting” under your belt and then look for added job responsibilities.

I just had an interview with a local auto dealer. All they want is a bachelors degree. You would be doing books dealing with tasks such as inventory and just keeping the books, so the basic managerial accounting. Considering most large firms are looking for students who will be working toward their MSA or CPA exam, a small firm or business would be your best bet. The degree is very open to what you feel like doing (you can go in many industries).
