Can unfiled taxes from prior years be filed to be current?

What is the annual income maximum, that a person can make and not be required to file taxes?

If someone has not filed taxes in the past 6 years, can they file them now and get caught up? If so, how?

Also, if a person does not have W-4 forms for that time period, how would they get copies of them. If they are unable to get copies, how do they know what amounts to use for filing.

Thanks.

How do I pay taxes if I have an online job?

I will begin a job as an online administrative assistant. I will be getting paid for my services via money orders in a fixed amount each week. My question is: how do I pay taxes on this? I am handicapped and received SSI until I got married. So this is my first job so I have no idea how to file taxes or about income tax in general. Could someone please provide me with some information on what I need to do.
No, he will not be taking the taxes out of my pay.

Is it true the IRS can get only put penalties on non filed tax returns up to three years back?

A friend of us tried to tell my boyfriend, the IRS would only be able to charge him fees and penalties for the past three years he didn’t file. I think he is wrong and when I found out about it I told my boyfriend he should contact the IRS and not ignore the problem. It is not that he doesn’t pay taxes, he did filed the returns and now might be in mess and on top of might have lost certain refunds etc.
What can I tell him or encourage him to do?
      Thank you in advance

How do taxes work if you consult for a business that is out of state?

        Hello all,

I am currently an independent consultant for a company based in Massachusetts. However, I do ALL of the work remotely in California. The employer did withhold anything. Do I still have to pay MA state income tax, or do I only pay California state taxes?

        Thanks in advance!

Is there a failure to file tax penalty if no tax is due?

If a person makes x dollars, and has the same amount in legitimate deductions, and x > standard deduction+personal exemption, and the person does not file a tax return, I assume the IRS will request a statement showing the deductions. But, assuming all the deductions are legitimate, are there any failure to file penalties (or other penalties) for this person?

If I file taxes with my illegal immigrant husband, will we get back anything he paid in taxes?

I finally got a job, and was wondering come tax time when I file taxes with my illegal immigrant husband (I am a US citizen). Will we get back everything we could as if he was a citizen, or will they only give back my part?
We also have a child together.

Let me know if you need anymore details.
Would it be better to file by my self?
If I did file by myself, would I get EIC?
Would filing together help us out in any way?

Can I deduct Federal taxes paid in 2007 on my state tax return?

I made a mistake on my 2005 Federal taxes and had to pay about 00 in 2007 on that 2005 tax year. Pretty sure I can’t deduct that on my Federal return, but can I deduct it on my state return?
